what is the what dave eggers not for those with a weak stomach. i honestly got sick multiple times reading this. it’s based on the true story of a refugee from sudan, so every tragic event hits so much harder knowing it actually happened. sometimes he feels like god hates him because of all the tragedy that befalls him, and while i relate to that a lot, as an outsider you can see how almost lucky he is in a way. like yes having someone right next to you be eaten by a lion would be very traumatic, but it’s actually quite lucky that you weren’t the one eaten. yeah walking over corpses would be bad but at least ur walkin and not one of the corpses. definitely made me grateful for the mundane things i take for granted. 7/10

well other than the love interests name being ethan this was a fairly enjoyable read. at least i think it helped desensitize me to the name tho. never expected this duo writing a book together but excited it exists. girl runs away from her past and to nashville to try and make it in music.
